Garrotín

The garrotín is a palo (style) Flamenco, its origin is located in Catalogne, in the provinces of Tarragone and sutout of Lérida.

It is considered that are the Gipsies of the Province of Lérida which invented then developed this style flamenco.

The garrotín remained unknown a long time until the moment when Federico García Lorca, impassioned flamenco, the Gipsies and Catalonia, expressed the intêret that there was to discover this flamenco not-Andalusian.

The garrotín belongs to the oldest forms of flamenco, it is sung as well in Catalan as in Castillan, one regards it as the ancestor of the Rumba (Catalan or gipsy).
