Garota de Ipanema is one of the most known songs of the Bossa nova and MPB. It can result in Fille of Ipanema . She was composed in an original manner by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes in 1962. The English recording (words of Norman Gimbel) interpreted by the singer Astrud Gilberto in 1963, launched The Girl from Ipanema , aui had a world success.

History

At the base, Vinícius de Moraes made a version different from this song, having for name Menina which Passa , whose words were:

However, neither Tom Jobim nor Vinícius de Moraes liked the words of this song. Thus, the final version was made later by Vinícius, inspired of an young woman who frequently passed in front of the bar Veloso, (now named Garota de Ipanema) that was called Heloísa Eneida Menezes Pais Pinto - more known under the name of Helô Pinheiro, with Ipanema.
