The locality

Garnich is a Luxembourg locality in the west of the country and chief town of the commune bearing the same name.

The commune

The commune of Garnich is one of the 116 Luxembourg communes in the canton of Capellen, district of Luxembourg.

Its culminating point is Rébierg at an altitude of 398 meters. Here important water tanks are found which guarantee the drinking water supply for the field. The peak which is stretched starting from Rébierg in direction of Dahlem and Schouweiler belongs to the watershed of the basins slopes of the Meuse and the the Rhine

Armorial bearings of the commune

The commune of Garnich accepted its armorial bearings on November 29th, 1982. The point is derived from the armorial bearings of the lords of Sterpenich, this for the reason that the lords of Kahler, (a locality of the commune) were originating in Sterpenich.

The castles and the fasces come from the former owners of the villages from Garnich, Dahlem, and Hivange.
