Gargamel

Gargamel is a character of the Cartoon Schtroumpfs . It is a wizard specialized in the Alchimie, and it is also the sworn enemy of the Schtroumpfs; he lives like them, recluse in the forest, but has for only company his cat Azraël. Its great ambition is to capture the small blue imps, at the beginning in order to be able to manufacture the Philosopher's stone, but its bitter failures and repeated transform this need of hatred.

In other episodes of the animated series, Gargamel affirms that it needs Schtroumpfs to manufacture Or. Sometimes also, he wants to eat them.

Gargamel created Schtroumpfette, in an intention to harm Schtroumpfs to poke jealousy and competition, but it ends up being established on their premises in harmony.

Gargamel lives a manor hones some with the thatched roof with a tower, on the other side of the forest of Schtroumpfs. Curious thing, those make without problem the way between their village and the house of Gargamel whereas this last is found unceasingly at his place when it tries to reach the village (considering no one cannot arrive at the village schtroumpf if it is not guided by Schtroumpf ).

Its name would be founded on that of Gargamelle, character female of Gargantua .

Gargamel was however a French-speaking first name running to the Moyen-âge.

the animated adaptation suggests that Gargamel was a corrupted Moine expelled of the order to have tried to become rich thanks to chemical experiments.

One of the rare visitors of Gargamel was Grossbouf, a giant glouton that Gargamel persuaded to find of Schtroumpfs in order to make soup of it.

Gargamel is not completely recluse of the company, since he is for example member of an honest brotherhood of alchemists (which does not know however her malefic activities), as one sees it in Doctor Schtroumpf .

Its expression fetish: " I will be avenged, and my revenge will be terrible! "
