It is in 1919 that the Engineer and Italian pilot of motor bike Alberto Garelli builds its clean Two-stroke cycle for which it uses two pistons to improve the exhaust of gases. It uses a framework inspired of the models of the company DKW, then considered as most powerful on the market. With the autumn 1919, Ettore Girardi equipped with the first motor bike ever built with an engine of 350cm ³ carries out the way of Milan to Naples at a mean velocity of 38,29 km/h.
In the following years, the machines of Garelli made it possible the company to officially record 8 world records until in 1923. Entirely not less than 138 records will be beaten until in 1926 of which some, particularly on long distances, are always valid. Also presents in competition, the Garelli mark equips several Italian pilots such as Ernesto Gnesa, Tazio Nuvolari or Achille Varzi.
Starting from 1928 Garelli develops to manufacture its motor bikes on broad scale and continuous to provide the army with its models until in 1935.
After the Second world war, Garelli concentrates its production on models going from 34 to 125 cm ³ and is an important success in Italy with models like the Moustique or the Scooter Capri .
