Gardens of Callunes

The Jardins of Callunes are a landscape and botanical park established with Round of applause-with-Sapt in the High-Vosges, with 550 meters of altitude. The rustic decorative plants are most numerous there, Callune S and others Bruyère S at the head.

History

The creation of the park was decided in 1989. Its establishment was done at the place of a discharge which used the cavity of an old sandstone career. Its design and its realization were entrusted to Jacques Couturieux, landscape designer. The pine forest was created as of 1994, whereas 4000 m ³ of topsoil and 900 tons of rocks were brought on the park. The opening to the public dated June 2nd 1996. As of the first year, the park added up 6000 visitors and was seen decreeing the first price of the gardens of Lorraine. In 2001, the frequentation was of 14000 visitors.

Landscape zones

; The pine forest: Rhododendron S and Azalea S in the shade of woodland pine S. ; Gardens of heathers: 250 éricacées varieties of forming a patchwork of colors. ; The garden of the long-lived ones: 180 varieties laid out in small islands on 3000 m ². ; The flowered trench: shrubs, rock plants, conifers dwarf decorate a trench going back to 1915. ; The plate: Birch X and pines, Hydrangea S, Viorne S, Dogwood S… ; The brook and the small lake of mountain: plants of wetland or Peaty. ; Large rubble: rhododendrons, Phlox, Saxifrage S… ; Careers: the small pink sandstone circuses shelter eyelet S dwarves, plants aromatic and shrubby Pivoine S.
