Garden Zen
A garden Zen is a Jardin Japanese composed of sand, rocks, gravels and sometimes of grass. These gardens are used as place of meditation to the monks Zen.
The garden Zen of the Ryoan-ji temple
A famous garden Zen is located in the temple of Ryōan-ji at the North-East of Kyōto, Japan. Ryoanji is a temple pertaining to the school Myoshinji, a branch of the Zen sect, famous for its garden Zen. The garden would have been created at the 15th century so that the monks meditate there. The garden is built in the Karesansui style. The garden is 30 meters long and 10 meters broad. It contains 15 rocks of various sizes, some covered with foam. The rocks are laid out on a carpet of white gravel which is raked each day. The rocks are laid out so that the visitors do not see that 14 stones and that under any angle.
