Garden State

Garden State is a film written, carried out and interpreted by Zach Braff with Natalie Portman and Peter Sarsgaard, left in 2004.

Synopsis

Andrew Largeman, in the score, leads a peaceful life to Los Angeles where it tests, without too much success, to become actor. It is completely struck by the quantity of drugs which it takes.

It returns in its birthplace in the New Jersey to bury his paraplegic mother . It finds there his former friends whom it left nine years before. It meets also Samantha, epileptic, strange and beautiful, of which it goes, gradually to fall in love.

Comments

If the history of this film is particularly simple, it is not the same for its realization, which accumulates a number impressing of small details which make film complex and rich. It is filled of anecdotes on various subjects, the characters approach various topics as drug, work, the relation with the others, the professional success. The plans used are often aligned on the characters, one finds various plans using of the axes of symmetry, like the reflection of Andrew in front of its cupboard with ice at the beginning of film, where well separation with the airport centered on the staircase whose field of camera is bordered by the two escalators of each with dimensions.
