Garden CRESSON

The garden CRESSON or pepperwort ( Lepidium sativum ) is a endemic Plante of France used like Légume or salad.

It should not be confused with other cresses, in particular with the Watercress.

In gastronomy, the sheets and the flowers of garden cress are added raw to salads. They have a prickly and aromatic savor which is not without pointing out that of the Grande nasturtium.

Tests of the state of maturation of the compost

The garden cress seeds are used for the tests of germination on the compost obtained after Compostage. It is a question incontestably of the simplest method and most reliable to know the state of maturation of the compost obtained.
Les plants test most usually used is garden cress and the lettuce (Lactuca sativa). Seeds of the plant test are sown on the compost humidified out of hermetically closed bottle. After 3 days, maturity is evaluated according to the percentage of germination and, possibly, the quantity of green matter obtained.
