The to garanoir is a widespread Cépage of Vigne in Suisse. Garanoir was first of all named Gastar , then Granoir and finally Garanoir .
Garanoir was selected among the many descendants of a crossing of Gamay X Reichensteiner where the majority of red type of vines showed very interesting characteristics: color, precocity, resistance to the rot.
By fertilizing Gamay by pollen of Reichensteiner one wished to obtain an early red type of vine, which would have qualities close to those of the black Pinot and Gamay cultivated in Switzerland, but more resistant to the rot. Garanoir is vinified in red or rosy.
The wine, very fruity, acquires an intense color by Macération, it misses sometimes a little of acidity.
