Gao Yu

Gao Yu is a journalist Chinese.

It begins its career in 1979 like deferring for the Chinese news agency. In 1988 it becomes assistant editor association of Economics Weekly , directed by dissenting intellectuals. She also works as journalist independent for various Chinese newspapers and of HongKong. In November 1988, it publishes an article in the newspaper of HongKong Mirror Monthly , that the mayor of Beijing qualifies " political program of agitation and the rébellion". It calls it even " enemy of the peuple". She is stopped in 1989 after the Manifestations of the place Tian' anmen and is released 14 month later for health reason. She again is stopped in October 1993 and is condemned in November 1994 to 6 years of prison, to have " published secrecies of état".

In March 1999, it is the first journalist to receive the world Prix of freedom of the press decreed by UNESCO, it had already accepted in 1995 the Plume of gold of freedom.
