Gangui
A gangui is a fishing net to the very tight meshs with a rectangular metal reinforcement. This net is used in the surroundings of Marseilles to scrape the sea-bed, from where the nickname of Râteau.
This kind of net is used for the capture of fish of rocks, fish essential for good a Fish soup.
These practices of fishing were the subject of a scientific study financed by the EEC and their disappearance is not at all with the day order: when the fishing machines are well used, no destruction is to be regretted.
There exist several kinds of ganguis which are used only in the Var and a small portion of the Rhone delta and the Alpes-Maritimes;

Gangui with panels (or with plates) whose nets are composed of a pocket and two wings held isolated using divergent panels. There still, these machines recouvent variable dimensions, designs and grids. They are distinguished according to the targeted funds which condition necessarily the composition of the contributions: gangui with panels on hard bottom (net = shoed net, herbaria siutés between 12 and 28 m of depth) and gangui with panels on soft bottom (net = flannel, bronde from 27 to 32 m and sometimes up to 50 or even 100 m).
- gangui with reinforcement (or dredges) whose net is assembled on a metal framework; the targeted funds lie between 15 and 35 small Mr.
- gangui (draguette, rake, net with sea urchins, net with purple) equipped either with a net fixed on a reinforcement or of a net towed using panels smaller and lighter than those of the gangui at panels.
Several elements distinguish small the gangui from large the gangui:
- the size of the machine which is lower than 3 m for small the gangui,
- the funds targeted for small the gangui are only the herbaria located between 12 and 30 m
- fishing with small the gangui are not an activity annual like that of large the gangui but seasonal (winter) and complementary.
