Game preserve (subway of Paris)

Varenne is a station of the Métro of Paris on the line 13, in the 7 {{E}} district of Paris.

The station

The station is open in 1923.

The name of the station does not come from the escape of the king Louis XVI, stopped in the town of Varenne ''' S ''', but of the name of the Varenne locality (or Garenne) which belonged to the Abbaye of Saint-Germain-of-Meadows.

The Street of Game preserve, whose end is above the station east one of the high places of the political power French, since the presidency of the Council settled in the Hôtel Matignon in January 1935. Other ministries elected residence in the private mansions of the district.

During the war, the Varenne station was closed because the government was with Vichy, and the deserted private mansions did not have any more a raison d'être served.

The Sunday July 29th 2007, a shoe of braking of an oar MF77 of the line 13 took fire little before 9 a.m. between the stations Invalides and Varenne. The fire is quickly controlled, but the gas emanations make 35 poisoned, including a 15 serious of which expectant mother seriously reached. 115 firemen of 14 barracks were mobilized, and aid operations ended towards 10:45.
