Galswinthe
Galswinthe (towards 545 - 567 ), was queen of the Francs in Neustrie.
Girl of Athanagild, king of the Visigoths and Goïswinthe, it marries king Mérovingien of Soissons Chilpéric Ier in 567. She will obtain a douaire made up of the cities of Bordeaux, Limoges, Cahors, Béarn and Bigorre. She brings to him in dowry of many treasures (in currency and invaluable objects) and an alliance with the king Visigoth; this marriage also offers to Chilpéric a certain peace in its possessions of Aquitaine. Pushed by Frédégonde, concubine and slave, the king would have made it strangle in his sleep into 567. Its death starts a Faide (private revenge) which will tear the kingdom of Neustrie and that of Austrasie during thirty years, because Sigebert Ier, king of Austrasie is married with Brunehilde, junior by Galswinthe and which makes a point of avenging his/her sister.
