Gallo-Romance Languages

The gallo-Romance languages (or the gallo-novel ) are a subdivision of the Romance Langues. This category is frequent in the traditional classification of the Romance languages.

According to the most diffused design, the gallo-novel includes/understands the French, the Francoprovençal and the Occitan.

In a more recent and more moderated classification, launched by the linguist Pierre Nozzle, the gallo-Romance languages stictement include/understand a sub-group gallo-novel and sub-groups of transition:

  • gallo-Romance Languages strictly speaking

  • occitano-Romance Languages (transition between gallo-Romance languages and ibéro-Romance languages)
    • Catalan Occitan or Language of oc
  • Transition between gallo-Romance languages and italo-Romance languages
    • Rhaeto-Romanic Group
    • Italian or north-Italian (traditionally regarded as a dialectal group of the Italian ).
