Gallo-Roman Temple of the forest of Halatte
The Gallo-Roman temple of the forest of Halatte is located close to Senlis in full heart of the Forêt of Halatte on the commune of Ognon. This votive temple of cure was set up towards half of the 1st century after J. - C., and was abandoned at the beginning of the 5th century, i.e. at the beginning of the era of the Christianisation. The temple is then used as stone quarry, then it was covered by the forest.
He was excavated between 1873 and 1874 and between 1996 and 1999. The objects discovered during these excavations (coins, Ex-voto, Fibule S, rings, objects of ornament) are exposed to the Musée of art and archeology of Senlis. All these objects, but as of the bones of animals attest as there was on this site of the offerings of a population Gallo-Roman enthusiastic and assiduous.
