History

Created at the beginning of July 2003 by Orange, Gallery opened in 2005 with the operators Bouygues Telecom and SFR through the creation of the AFMM (French Association of the Multi-media Mobile) which is a company providing Services to the companies .

Operation for the mobinaute

There exist several means to reach Gallery:

starting from the gates wap of the three mobile operators Bouygues Telecom, Orange and SFR, through the Gallery miter which appears there;
from some MVNO (Universal Music Mobile, M6 Mobile, NRJ Mobile, Debitel, Virgin Mobile and TF1 Mobile);
by sending the keyword ( Coils for example) or the name of service ( France 2 for example) of your research by SMS to the 30130;
since certain Web sites which propose a mobile version of their site: the Web2Gallery functionality then allows the user having seized his number of portable to receive a message with a bond to reach the pages of the service on Gallery.

There exists an equivalent offer in Belgium named PlazZza.

Financial considerations

For the consumer : the access to the platform Gallery is free for the customer mobinaute (there are no costs other than the expenses of access to the Internet-mobile by the mobile phone), the expenses of use of the mobile phone are output, as for any other call, on the telephone bill or a prepaid chart. The expenses of a subscription-based service used by the consumer are transferred to 67% (approximately) with the editor of the service, the mobile telephone operator of the consumer by keeping 33% (approximately).

For an editor of site : it must be registered with the French Association of the Multi-media Mobile (AFMM), the inscription being validated only after technical tests by the operators, and the purchase of one or more key words allowing referencing. The editor must obligatorily sign a contract referencing with each of the three operators; moreover, the tariffs are variable according to the types of sites concerned and the number of bought key words.
