Gall (towards 1840 - December 5th 1894, was born and died in the South Dakota with the the United States), called in his language lakota Pizi , (Gall means “French bile”) was an Amerindian war leader Hunkpapa, one of the seven clans of the nation Sioux which took share with the Bataille of Little Big Horn.
Origins of its name
It was affublé of this nickname when, orphan and starveling, it ingurgita the gall bladder of an animal. Before this event, it was called “Bear shedding his to hate” (bear which loses its hairs).Biography
Gall was born in current South Dakota close to Moreau River. He took share with the war directed by Red Cloud of 1865 with 1868.After one period of peace, he became war leader under the orders of Sitting Bull. He takes part for this reason in the battle of Little Bighorn (June 25th 1876) where the general Custer and his men were destroyed. He decides in 1881 to cease the war against the white.
He became starting from 1889 farm and judges officiating at the Court of the Indian Businesses of the reserve of Standing Rock'n'roll. Gall defended at this period the assimilation in the culture of the white man. He is opposed then to Sitting Bull, implied in the movement of Danse of the spirits which he denounces like an imposture.
He died in South Dakota and the epitaph which was registered on its tomb spoke in praise of its qualities of honest man.
