Galéga

Galéga is the name of a kind of Plante S herbaceous of the family of the Fabacée S.

The name of this kind is formed on the Greek official reception , milk, in galactagogue reference to the properties (supporting the secretion of milk) which were allotted to the officinal galéga when it is grazed by the goats.

The kind is composed of 6 species of large hardy perennials buissonnantes, which like the wet sunny situations. One meets them in the meadows, on the slopes of the hills and the slopes. They are plants autochtones, originating in Central Europe and South, Asia of the west and mountains of the east of tropical Africa.

The sheets, from 8 to 20 cm length, are alternate Pennées, of color soft green even slightly tinted of blue. The inflorescences are axillaires drawn up bunches with papilionacées flowers of the type white, blue, mauve or two-tone.

Under good conditions, the plant is resown very easily, and can be naturalized very quickly.

Certains Galega lends itself well to the use in cut flowers.
