Gakovo
Gakovo , in Serb Cyrillic Гаково, is a locality of Serbia located in the autonomous province of Voïvodine. It belongs to the municipality of Sombor in the district of Bačka Western. In 2002, it counted 2.201 inhabitants, of which a majority of Serbes.
Officially classified among the villages of Serbia, Gakovo is located at the North-West of the Bačka close to the border with Hungary. A close small town called Kruševlje is also regarded as belonging to the town of Gakovo.
History
Gakovo was rested by German colonists between 1763 and 1768. The current inhabitants of the city settled there after the Second world war. They were originating in Mrkonjić Grad and Donja Pecka.
