Gagny
Gagny is a town of France, located in Île-de-France area, in the suburbs Is of Paris. Its inhabitants is the gabinien () S.
Geography
Gagny is a commune of the Seine-Saint-Denis (in the past Seine-et-Oise), located at 15 km in the East of Paris. It is surrounded of:
- in the North-East: Montfermeil
- in North: Clichy-sous-Bois
- in the North-West: Raincy
- in the West: Villemomble
- in the South: Neuilly-sur-Marne
- in South-east: Gournay-sur-Marne
- in the East: Chelles (Seine-et-Marne)
History
The villa Ganniacum was stretched between the valley of the Marne and the slopes of Montfermeil, and belonged to Ganiaco or Gannios; At the 9th century, one named it Waniacus.
Priory founded at the 11th century by Adele of Champagne. Seigniory of Etienne de Gagny, husband of Beatrice of Montfermeil at the 13th century. This priory will perdura until in 1771, date of its suppression by the religious authority.
Gagny had several castles, of which most important, demolished in 1765, belonged to Dominique de Ferrari, Master of ordinary hotel of the king (1660). During the revolution, the church after being closed down, was transformed into “Temple of the Reason”. Occupation by the Allied troops in 1814/1815, and also Prussian occupation in 1870. May 20th 1869, a small portion of the territory of Gagny was taken and associated with part of the territory of Livry-Gargan and also part of the territory of Clichy-sous-Bois, to create the commune of the Raincy.
Episode of the Taxis of the Marne during the First World War (1914-1918) the taxis requisitioned on Paris and its suburbs were gathered in front of the town hall, they were charged to take along the soldiers to the face (near Nanteuil-le-Haudouin) to push back the German offensive.

The town of Gagny reached 36.715 inhabitants (17.618 men and 19.097 women) during the Recensement of 1999, the active population cash 18.027 people. Unemployment rate was relatively weak: 11,4%, against 14,1% for the district and 17,2% for the department. In edge of the Raincy, old careers where the Gypse since the 17th century was taken, are always visible. Exploitation of the plaster fine, known as " of Paris" , was principal industry gabinienne, until the Années 1950. The old Mussat careers ceased their activity in 1965. As of the end of the 19th century, in certain closed down careers, one cultivated there already cultivated mushrooms.

The commune is served by two stations of the RER: Gagny and Chénay - Gagny .
The city is also served by several lines of bus: , 623 and 604 Moreover, one municipal shuttle is availability of the travellers. It borrows two circuits: the route 1 which serves the southern part of the communal territory and route 2, north.
