Gace Flaring

Gace Flaring , Trouvere and Champagne knight of the 12th century. The documents relating to it are rare, and even its birth dates and of death are prone to discussions and assumptions on behalf of the medievalists. Those generally agree to locate its birth after 1160, and its death after 1213. The dates of 1170 and 1220 are also usually evoked.

Enjoying a great consideration on behalf of its contemporaries, it gave his own interpretation of the traditional topics to the trouveres of the south of France (the despair of the lover or the poet, the heart enthusiast of a lady, the jealous etc) Its songs in general presented only one central idea, whose were shown the negative and positive sides.
