Gabriele Faerno

Gabriele Faerno ( Gabriel Faërne ), Latin poet of the 16th century, born with Casement bolt, in Lombardy, towards 1510, died in 1561.

Biography

Gabriele Faerno had as a guard the cardinal Jean Ange of Médicis (Pie IV), which attracted it with Rome near him and provided for its fortune. The base of its celebrity is a Recueil of Fables in Latin worms iambic , of a remarkable elegance, which appeared for the first time with Rome, 1564. This collection was translated into French worms by Charles Perrault, Paris, 1699.

The most beautiful editions of the Fables of Faërne, quoted at the 19th century by the Dictionnaire Bouillet are those:

When Faërno composed its fables, one had not found those of Phèdre yet. It was claimed, but without proof, that Faërne had known these fables.
