Gabriele Acacio Coussa

Mgr Gabriele Acacio Coussa is a Prélat Syria N of the Roman Catholic church (August 31st 1897 - July 29th 1962) which was devoted bishop in 1951 according to the Byzantine Rite by the pope Jean XXIII in 1961. It made studies with the Greek pontifical college of Rome then to the College of the Benedictines with Einsiedel in Switzerland. In 1920, it was ordered priest within the order melchite basilien. After studies pushed in Canon law and theology, it became assisting of the superior of its religious order. In 1929, it is named at the Commission of Studies on the coding of the canon law of the Roman Eastern Church and will become about it later, its secretary-general. Secretary (1946) of the pontifical Commission on the interpretation of the authenticity of the code of the canon law, it was named pro-secretary (1961) Congregation of the Roman Eastern Church. He had just been created cardinal at the time of his death.
