Gabriel Naudé
Gabriel Naudé (born the February 2nd 1600 with Paris and dead the July 10th 1653 with Abbeville) is a Bibliothécaire French.
Although having followed studies of letters, Philosophy and Medicine, Gabriel Naudé follows mainly the occupation of Bibliothécaire.
Library
He works in particular for the Cardinal of Bagni and Francesco Barberini with Rome, then for the cardinal of Mazarin and constitutes a Bibliothèque which is the base of current the Bibliothèque Mazarine. Traversing Europe during 10 years, it helped Mazarin with the constitution of its library, bringing back more than 40.000 volumes with most of invaluable manuscripts. It is famous to have written the Advis to draw up a library , which is the first handbook of Bibliothéconomie French. Magic and esotericism He sees the first edition of his work on the magic, medieval science, and the history of his training and his education published in 1625. Its work of 1690 is the last published of alive sound Naudé died in 1653. It takes the defense of famous men like Merlin, Nostradamus, Roger Bacon, and Paracelsus by denouncing the load to have made magicians of them. He studied the magic, and classified it in 4 categories: white Magic, black Magic, divine Magic, and natural Magic (the latter including Sciences, Astronomy and Chemistry).
