Gabriel Barnabe Louis d\' Osmond

Gabriel Barnabe Louis d' Osmond , knight then count d' Osmond, count de Boitron, from Médavy, Mesnil Froger, was born in 1716 and died in Brussels in 1792.

Wire of Eustace d' Osmond (N. in 1683) and of Marie Louise de Pardieu de Maucomble, older brother of Louis Eustace d' Osmond, he was captain of Police officers, Master of camp as a second to the regiment of Cambrésis, and knight of the Ordre of Saint-Louis. It was allowed with the Honneurs of the Court on November 12th 1784.

Named in 1768 chamberlain of Louis Philippe of Orleans (1725-1785), duke of Chartres then Duke of Orleans, it was, writes his/her small-niece, the Comtesse of Boigne, “in the greatest intimacy of the Palais Royal, especially of the mother of King [[Louis-Philippe Ier|Louis-Philippe I {{er}}]] which treated it with a very subsidiary affection. The memories of time quote it for its distractions, which did not prevent that it was not very pleasant, of good company and extremely obliging. ” In fact, several of his/her parents could, thanks to his protection, to enter to the service of the duke of Orleans.

He was a close friend of the count Dufort de Cheverny who devoted to him a whole chapter of his Mémoires : “Famous for its originalities, large and strong and well done, devoted itself to body lost with all that amused unfortunately, the passion of the play absorbed all its qualities. ”

“Known as player, writing Madam de Genlis, it had more than 60.000 books of revenue out of grounds, located close to Coutances and Saint-Lo Spirituel and inattentive, it was liked of everyone. Each day he lunched at the duchess of Orleans and the duke of Orleans called it “the husband of my wife”. ”

He emigrated under the Révolution and died in Brussels in 1792.

He had married, on March 21st 1732, Rose de Thère - “very soft, very wise, very pleasant” according to Dufort de Cheverny - elder of the two girls of his close rich person Charles Francois, count de Thère and of Marguerite Rose d' Harcourt d' Olonde, who gave him two girls:

  • NR… of Osmond, which married Charles Adolphe de Mauconvenant, marquis of Holy-Suzanne;

  • Charlotte Rose Jacqueline d' Osmond, which married Christophe Nicolas Joseph Etienne de Malbec de Montjoc, marquis de Briges.
