Gabriel (archangel)

Gabriel (Hebrew: גַּבְרִיאֵל the force of god ) of gabar (force) and El (God). The significance of its name is " Nobody robust of Dieu". (Arab: جبريل Djibril , but in the Arabic Bible: جبرائيل) is a angel (or Archange) quoted in the Old Testament, then in the New Testament and the Coran (here, under the name of جبرائيل or جبريل). He is thus known by the Judaïsme, the Christianisme and the Islam.

In the Old Testament, he announces a prophecy in the Livre of Daniel. In accordance with the significance of its name when it materializes in the bible where when it appears in a vision, its aspect is similar to that of a robust man (daN 8:15; DaN 12-7). He is regarded as the left hand of god

In New Testament, he announces the birth of Jesus. In the Islam, it is the same Gabriel angel which reveals the Coran with Mahomet, which announces the birth of Jesus to the Virgin Mary and who announces prophecies of Daniel.

God communicates with his prophets either via angels, or by visions or appearances. Gabriel is regarded as the messenger of God in the Bible, and Coran.

Its appearance with the Virgin Mary is described thus in New Testament:
“The sixth month, the Gabriel angel was sent by God in a town of Galileo of the name of Nazareth, with an young girl granted in marriage to a man named Joseph, of the family of David; this young girl was called Marie. The angel entered near it and says to him: “ Would be merry, you who ace the favor of God, the Lord is with you. ” With these words, it was very disturbed, and it wondered what this greeting could mean. The angel says to him: “ Would be without fear, Marie, because you found grace near God. Here that you will be pregnant, you will give birth to a son and you will give him the name of Jesus. He will be large and will be called Fils of the Almighty. The Lord God will give him to the throne of David his father; he will reign for always on the family of Jacob, and its reign will not have end. ” Marie said to the angel: “ Comment that will it be done since I do not have marital relations? ” the angel answered him: “ the Holy Spirit will come on you and the power of the Almighty will cover you with his shade; this is why that which will be born will be holy and will be called Sons of God. And here that Elisabeth, your relationship, is it also pregnant of a son in his old age and it is in its sixth month, it which one called the sterile one, because nothing is impossible with God. ” Marie says then: “ I am the maidservant of the Lord. How all occurs for me as you said it to me! ” And the angel left it. ”
