As of the signature of the Treated of Frankfurt in 1871 devoting the annexation of the Alsace-Lorraine by the German Empire, the authorities managing the railroads of this province last, in the urgency, to build a travelling park since the Compagnie of the railroads of the East had withdrawn all its material of these territories. For its locomotive with vapor intended for the service goods and mixed (type G ), the new administration, named Kaiserliche Generaldirektion der Eisenbahnen in Elsass-Lothringen (imperial Head office of the railroads of Alsace-Lorraine or EL) , bought near other administrations or factories of the varied machines.
The first series, named C1 acquired by the EL included/understood four engines of the type 040 of the state railways Hungarian . Built by G.Sigl with Wiener-Neustadt, they were most probably reformed before the installation of the new classification of 1906.
Lastly, the group of the G1 gradually constituted on the basis of machine of provision of axles 030 starting from the second named series C2 . This group counted about thirty engines very of Austrian design:
- C2 n° 62 to 73 : built by G.Sigl with Wiener-Neustadt in 1871 for the line Alföld - Fiume (Rijeka). Registered in 1906, G1 n° 1001 to 1012 , they was reformed starting from 1910 until in 1923.
- C3 n° 74 to 77 : built by the same manufacturer for the Kaiser-Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB) , Railroads of the Ferdinand Emperor, in 1870. It were delivered the following year to the EL. Registered G1 n° 1013 to 1016 in 1906, they were reformed towards 1910 - 1911.
- C14 n° 310 to 315 : built in 1872 by the workshops of Floridsdorf for the Prag-Duxer Eisenbahn (PD) , Railroads of Prague in Dux (Duchcov as a Czech Republic), they was repurchased for the EL. They were identical to the machines of the series 50.01-25 (ex- PD ) of the Kaiserlich-königliche österreichische Staatsbahnen (kkStB) , Railroads of State of Austria. Renumbered G1 n° 1017 to 1022 in 1906, they were reformed between 1910 and 1918, except the striped 1019 manpower of Al in 1921.
- C15 n° 316 to 332 : built by G.Sigl, these six machines were identical to the preceding ones. They took the n° 1023 to 1039 in 1906 and were reformed between 1909 and 1924.
All the engines of this series preserved their classification of 1906 at the time of the passage at the new classification of 1912. The railway network of Alsace-Lorraine (AL) inherited with its creation in 1919 the following machines: G1 n° 1002 (reformed in 1923), 1019 , 1025 (in 1921), 1036 (in 1922) and 1039 (in 1920).
Description
These machines with three coupled axles had a two cylinder motor external with simple expansion. They had an interior distribution by “slides of Allan”. Their boiler, at the origin stamped with 8 kg/cm ², was replaced by boilers of the type “Crampton” or Prussian (for the
C15 ) stamped to 10 kg/cm ² towards
1901.
