G 12 AL and ex-Prussia

The ''' Decapod ''' series G 12 are locomotive with vapor of Prussian origin. The numbers 5563 to 5680 were directly ordered by the imperial railroads of Alsace-Lorraine (EL) and were delivered between 1917 and 1919. The numbers 5681 to 5689 are the old machines of the Compagnie of the railroads of the East where they were numbered series 13 numbers 5151 to 5159 . These machines delivered under the services of armistice of 1918 were yielded to the railway network of Alsace-Lorraine (AL) before 1938.

These Decapod had a motor three cylinders with simple expansion and the distribution was of the type “Walschaerts”. The hearth was a hearth of the type “Belpaire” with grid overflowing on both the last axles. It was besides only ex-Allemande to have such a hearth. The exhaust was fixed of “German” type and some ones were provided with a Kylchap. The Bissel had a side displacement of approximately 80 mm and was of the type “Krauss”. The last driving Essieu had a side displacement of approximately 20 mm to facilitate turning circle.

They were very close to the G12.1 Al 5546 to 5562 (future: 1-150 B 546 to 562 ) from the engine and by possibilitées of traction and practically identical to the 150 Is 5015 (future: 1-150 has 15 ) put aside the diameter of the wheels and some dimensions. Al entrusted the trailer of the ore trains to them in the Lorraine basin. The series was registered 1-150 C 563 to 689 with the SNCF but because of the hostilities 33 machines were lost and several others returned in France too damaged to take again service. These losses were partly filled by the recovery of 10 other machines to leaving the war which were registered 1-150 C 808,810,822,824,836,866,893,895 and 897 thus by keeping the numbers allotted by DRg. All the series had disappeared from the inventory for the year 1957.

The tenders which theirs were coupled were always the same ones: it was about tenders with three axles containing 20 m ³ water and 7 T of coal. They carried the numbers 5563 to 5680 then 1-20 D 563 to 680 for ex-Al and 5151 to 5159 then 5681 to 5689 then 1-20 D 681 to 689 for ex-Is. The tenders recovered with leaving the war were registered 1-20 D 808,810,822,824,836,866,893,895 and 897 .
