Giat is a common French, located in the department of the Puy-de-Dôme and the area Auvergne.

History

La Motte Castrale

Dating from the time 1100-1200, this Mound, named popularly " Butte" , was built with rudimentary tools. Indeed, at that time, steel was reserved for the lances, the arrows. This feudal mound is best preserved of Combraille, even of Auvergne: in its top, a castle out of wooden was built, means of defense, with ditches which made the turn of it, of the rooms, the cellars and the undergrounds being used as communication with other castles.
