Pen name
Contrary to a current error (until in the catalogs of the National library of France), the pen name of Theodore Gosselin does not comprise any accent, by the will even of its carrier. Theodore Gosselin indeed makes the choice of his pseudonym, in July 1879, at the time of the publication of its first article in the columns of the Figaro . He is inspired for that by the name by a distance great-great-uncle, the gardener André Ours, but prefers to spell it in only one word and without accent. And, as a first name, it chooses the only initial one of its family name, saying itself: “ G. that I put in front of means neither Georges, neither Guy, neither Gaston, nor even Gédéon, as some believe it and say it, but quite simply Gosselin, which is my name of taxpayer. ”
