Gœgnies-roadway

Gœgnies-Roadway is a frontier small village of Belgium located in Walloon region in the Province of Hainaut.

It belongs to the common of Quévy.

Bordering the fitted Brunehault on nearly three kilometers, it is separated from the French municipality of Gognies-Roadway by this old Roman Voie which connected Bavay to Tongres.

This village is very close to the village where took place the Bataille of Malplaquet. It is also an interesting place of sociological observation in the sense that the border cuts a village which forms a unit, of which the two parts have the same language of culture and the same regional language (the Picard), but where however show the French features on the one hand and Walloons of the other.
