Güell park
The park Güell is one of the achievements of the Architecte Antoni Gaudí with Barcelona which are reproduced on the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO.
Its realization was spread out of 1900 with 1914. It was to be in the beginning a garden city that its patron, Eusebi Güell, had asked him to build on a hill of the north of the city ( El Carmel ). Conceived on the English model (its initial name was Park Güell and not Parque Güell), it was to comprise residences, workshops, a vault and a park; in all 63 houses. But the cost increased in such proportions that only were completed two houses and the park. This last became property of the town of Barcelona in 1927. It became one of the most attended places city!
Gaudí endeavoured to preserve the natural relief and, leaving free course to its imagination, gave rise to an original work all in curves. Faithful to its style, it created a work which is integrated into the nature and which reproduces it, columns of the be simulating for example tree trunks.
In top of the principal staircase with the fountain with the Lizard, symbol of the Alchemy and fire, is the Hypostile Room. This room, also called Salle of the 100 Columns, although only 86 were completed, is located under the central place of the park.
The place is bordered by a bench which undulates like a 150 m length snake. This bench is remarkable; sat in a loop, one is with the shelter and one sees his neighbors, in an intimate space, while having the sight on the remainder of the bench. Sat at the end of the meander, one opens in the world of the place, ready to make meetings.
