Gödöllő

Gödöllö is a Hungarian city famous for its castle located at about thirty kilometers in the North-East of Budapest. The village kept a typical aspect of the Hungarian villages with its broad streets and its bells out of wooden.

The castle

The castle belonged to Elisabeth de Wittelsbach and François-Joseph Ier of Austria. The queen coming there besides often in holiday. Of a traditional invoice, the castle is composed of two wings parallel separated by a room from reception on the first floor in which were played in the concerts and a hall giving on the garden to the ground floor.

The castle will be occupied by the Red Army with leaving the Second world war and will know damage in particular in the wings of the castle. It was in particular transformed into old people's home. Its repairing at tourist ends will be undertaken in the current of the years 1990.
