Gósol
Gósol is a common of the community of Catalogne in Spain, located in the Province of Lérida. It belongs to the Comarque of Berguedà.
Gósol and Picasso
The town of Gósol had an major importance in the artistic creation of Pablo Picasso which remained there at the summer 1906 with his/her partner of then Fernande Olivier. During some weeks, and before an epidemic of Typhoïde push them to leave, Picasso tested new approach in its painting, whereas it was in its pink period , which one can guess the first steps on what will be the following year in 1907, the birth of the Cubisme. This stay, will be indeed under the double influence of Spanish art préroman and Gothic, to which will be added the shock of the Iberian Sculpture old that it discovered to Paris at the same time, and who will appear in his works carried out with Gósol.
