Gëorgia Knap
Gëorgia Knap (1866 - 1946) is a Inventeur born and died in Troyes.
Having lived during the second industrial revolution, Gëorgia Knap benefitted from rise of electricity and the spark-ignition engine to invent unceasingly and in all the disciplines. Called “the man with the 80 trades” , it would have been the first to have a car in the town of Troyes.
In spite of real projects and projects, one does not find trace of Gëorgia Knap in the dictionaries or the encyclopedias. Its eccentric personality having probably led it to be forsaken by the History.
A street of the town of Troyes however bears its name. Several rare works relating to it exist (see Bibliographie).
Method of Knap renovation
Today Gëorgia Knap is especially known for its method of “renovation” (method of the 18 points of Knap).Between 40 and 50 years, it was impassioned for all the studies and the treaties concerning the Vieillissement, the Dégénérescence or the conservation of the human body. Thus it comes from there to develop a method consisting with to mass regularly certain points of the body all while maintaining a food hygiene strict. The standard meals of the inventor obviously copious but are impressed of a great food diversity.
He claims to be himself applied itself this method successfully as from the day of his 50 years. The scientists of the time doubting of the effectiveness of the method, Gëorgia Knap invited them to a conference the day of its 70 years when it was the proof of its vitality.
Finally, he would have refused to reveal his secrecy in answer to posted skepticism, by not considering them worthy.
This method perhaps put in parallel with other methods of relieving such as the Shiatsu or of cure such as the Aggast.
The motor cycles “Georgia Knap”
One can also retain Georgia Knap for his mark of Motocyclette S and electric cars whose patent was deposited in Belgium. The mark Georgia Knap took part in the golden age of the races of motor cycles. Its principal model had a pinion drive with the engine directly laid out beside the aft wheel. The first models did not even have the housing which spread thereafter. Like many originators of the time, the Trojan inventor did not believe in the future of the drive belt which was essential thereafter.
The social Cottage or the economic house
The concept of the economic house consisted in benefitting from new not very expensive construction materials like the concrete to mould the house directly.Gëorgia Knap deposited nearly 20 different models whose “Goliath” was most used. This manufacturing process less expensive than the traditional methods was accompanied by supports on behalf of associations of assistance to the accession with the housing of the time.
Houses of Holy-Savine in the suburbs of Troyes were built according to this method and always exist.
The electric house
The electric house was presented in 1937 to the World Fair of Paris. It precedes the appearance of the Domotique and its applications. One can make a parallel interesting between this invention and the concept of the smart house developed by large companies following the rise of data processing in the apparatuses current electric household appliances.
