Gémenos

Gémenos (in Occitan Of Provence: Gemmated according to the traditional standard or Gèmo according to the Norme mistralienne) is a common French, located in the department of the Rhone delta and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure.

The act of property of February 9th, 984 of Wilhem, count de Marseille, announces for the first time the existence, with the entry of the Small valley of St Pons, the strengthened village called Geminas. It is the cradle of the current city. In 1205, Dame Garcende founds the Cistercian abbey of St Pons, which was a spiritual and economic development center important. About the 15th century, Castrum de Geminas is deserted. It is into 1563 that Marquis of Albertas: Nicolas and his Gaspard brother, Italian of origin, acquire the seigniory of Gémenos and are on the initiative of Gémenos in his modern form.
