Gèdre

Gèdre is a common French, located in the department of the Hautes-Pyrénées and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

Name

Gèdre draws its name, in first analysis of the Gascon èdrɵ, jèdrɵ “ivy” (Latin will hedera ). In fact, it could be a question of a reinterpretation of an old derivative of Jer “meadow” or of one * jerdɵ “raspberry cane”.

Geography

Located in the the Pyrenees on the Gave de Gavarnie at the doors of the National park of the Pyrenees and the World heritage of UNESCO for its circus, the Circus of Gavarnie.
