Gâcogne is a common French, located in the department of the Nievre and the area Burgundy.
The village is located in the canton of Corbigny in the Nievre, in Burgundy. It is crossed by the Anguison.
The commune gathers 34 hamlets, doors and fields distributed on 2521 hectares.
At the 7th century, the Bénédictin S of Léonard Saint of Corbigny build a Prieuré in Jailly, pertaining to Corbon. Their parish, former to the 12th century, belonged to the archpriest of Corbigny, therefore Diocèse of Autun.
One finds mentions of the city under the name Gacongne in 1596.
In 1853, it counted 1274 inhabitants, but the wood demolition and floatation involved a strong migration. However, it knew to preserve “the inn of Gâcogne”, a trade which holds place of grocer, service station, deposit of bread, point-station, bar-restaurant and rooms of hosts. One finds also rooms of hosts in “the Pillavoine door” and a lodging of stay to “the door in the Page”. The life of the village remains animated, thanks to a dynamic festival committee: employers' festival of Saint Laurent, themathic evenings…
