Futar
The Futars are human hybrids of the universe of fiction of Dune of Frank Herbert.
Futars appear in the last two books of the initial saga, the Heretics of Dune and the House of the Mothers . They are beings hybrid half man half cat-like, capable of a great ferocity thanks to their animal DNA. They are also equipped with a direction of the very sharpened sense of smell which completes to make hunters of them par excellence.
It shows through in the writings of Frank Herbert that these creatures were created in the Grande Dispersion, and that they returned with the Honorées Matriarches. Actually, the Futures were created in the beginning to track the trollops, but those which return in the old Empire are those which were captured and controlled by these last.
There exists a strange bond between Futars and of the named beings Belluaires. Belluaires could be the creators of Futars, or at the very least their Masters. Indeed at the time of the attack of Gammu by the Honoured Matriarches, Futars come to be put under protection forces Bene Gesserit, believer who the latter were Belluaires.
In Hunters of Dune of Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, continuing the initial saga, the bond between Belluaires and Futars and proven. In this work, the origin of Futars is confirmed as being in the Grande Dispersion, within the planet brotherhood Belluaire. “Stray” Tleilaxus on these planets would have learned in Belluaires how to handle genes in order to obtain creatures able to protect them from the Honorées Matriarches, and to even drive out these last: Futars.
