Funds national of contemporary art

The Fnac , or Funds national of contemporary art , is a public cultural institution charged to manage a collection of Contemporary art pertaining to the French State.

This collection gathers more: 70000 parts of Visual arts, Photography S, decorative Art or Design, preserved since 1991 in a building of: 4500 m ² with Puteaux, under the esplanade of Defense. It is thus of a deposit and not about a place of exposure, works being lent according to the requests of the museums, administrations or other events.

History

Fnac finds its origin in a service set up as of 1791 but its current name only in 1976 takes. Since 1981, it depends on the Délégation to the visual arts (Dap), itself integrated into the Ministère of the Culture. Its financing is related to the National center of the visual arts (Cnap) of which it becomes a component in 2003.
