Funafuti

Funafuti is one of new the Atoll S which constitutes the state of Tuvalu. Its population is, according to the census of 2002, 4492 inhabitants. Funafuti lodges the capital of the State, the île/la city Fongafale, even if the capital is officially the atoll of Funafuti itself. One finds there a hotel, the church of Tuvalu, administrative buildings, a peninsula (Tengako), and four taxis.
The atoll makes 20 km of width, and counts 33 islands from 20 to 400 m broad, of which at least 3 are populated (Fongafale, Funafala and Amatuku).
