Fully

Fully is a common Suisse of the Canton of Were worth located in the District of Martigny. None the localities of the commune bears the name of Fully, name which indicates the regrouping of the various villages.

History

Fully was already inhabited in very moved back times. The vestiges and tombs found in Branson, Mazembroz, Chiboz,… are there to prove it.

The rocky outcrop of Follatères was of an strategic importance for the Roman which had installed a military station there.

A few centuries later, Fully, just as Riddes and Leytron, belonged to the chatellery of Saillon (itself dependant on the County of Savoy). As of 1475, the saltery of Branson was attached to the government of Saint-Maurice, following the conquest of Low-Were worth by the High-Valaisans. The seigneuriales families followed one another and this, until in 1602. During this period, the life fulliéraine was harder. The commune bent under the royalties and had, moreover, to support the natural disasters: gullies, floods and the Cholera, of disaster report.

In 1798, takes shape a desire of revival and progress. 1917 represents a historical date for the communes of Saillon and Fully: 400 hectares of Marais are returned to the culture. From 1921, the producers pass to the mode of intensive cultures in the plain, which will become soon an important orchard and market-gardening.

Sorniot

The road is stretched on the slope fulliérain.

The hamlets are followed while the sight emerges on the plain of the Rhone: Euloz, Buitonnaz, Chiboz… It is still tarred. One leaves then on an overland route: Randonnaz, Lousine and Erié, where the road for the vehicles stops. Place aux paths. Sorniot direction and its famous lakes.

One finds there some country cottages, a mountain pasture, a summer camp, the hut.

A small extra effort makes it possible to discover the higher lake, the “big lake”, in opposition to the “small lake” of the hollow. Water is cold and they are especially the banks of this artificial reserve of 4 million cubic meters which attract the amateurs of grills and fishermen.

The water of Sorniot finishes in Fully. Before the accident of October 2000 which broke the pressure pipe, the electric factory EOS located in plain produced approximately 12 million kWh per year.

But the natural advance of water of Sorniot is quieter: after an infiltration in a vast karstic system, they arise a few kilometers more in the east, Saillon, before returning in Fully by the channel.

Fishing

Supported by the friendly one of the fishermen for a few years, the piscicultural management of the lower and higher lakes of Fully has borne fruits: rainbow trouts, Fario, Cristivomer abound in this water considered for fishing with the fly.

Events

During October in Fully the Fête is held of the Sweet chestnut , festival whose central theme is the sweet chestnut, " fruit" (more precisely seed of the bug) emblematic of Fully. During these two days of festivities, it is possible to taste typical mets. With the program: Brisolée , tart with sweet chestnut and sweet chestnut liquors, without forgetting cheese and the white light local wine of the country. The whole is to be discovered throughout the market which occupies during these two days the streets of the village.

Many encaveurs produce there a wine named the Petite Arvine , which is the local speciality.
