The fuligule tufted duck ( Aythya fuligula ) is a plunger Canard of the family of the Anatidé S.

Identification

It is a Canard from 40 to 47 cm length with a scale from 67 to 72 cm, heavy between 550 and 900 G. Thus a little smaller than a Fuligule pochard for example.

The male has a black plumage shining and of the white sides, as well as a fine crested black and falling down. The female is uniformly brown with crested the shorter. In flight, one recognizes them thanks to a white wing bar.
