Fujiwara No Kamatari
Fujiwara No Kamatari (藤原鎌足) (614 - 669) is the founder of the Clan Fujiwara. The Fujiwara clan goes down in fact from the Nakatomi clan, this is why, Fujiwara No Kamatari is also named Nakatomi No Kamatari (中臣鎌足).
Fujiwara No Kamatari is the son of Nakatomi No Mikeko. It had assisted the futut Tenji emperor, then imperial prince Naka No Oe, in the realization of the reform of taika. It receipt the nickname of Fujiwara of the Emperor Tenji, on his bed of died into 669.
Its second wire, Fujiwara No Fuhito, inherited the name Fujiwara and is the ancestor of the House. Two of his/her daughters, Higami No Iratsume and Oe No Iratsume, were wives of the Temmu emperor. The first was the mother of the Tajima Princess; the second that of Prince Niittabe.
