Frontal Lobe

The frontal lobe is an area of the Cerveau Vertébré S. It is located in front of the lobes parietal and temporal.

Anatomy

In the human brain, the central Sillon separates the frontal lobe from the parietal lobe throughout the surface of the cerebral Cortex. The Scissure of Sylvius (or side furrow) separates the Gyrus (or convolution) frontal inferior from the temporal lobe.

One subdivides the frontal lobe in three great structures since the central furrow to the frontal pole, the former part of the frontal lobe:

  • the driving Cortex just located in front of the central furrow
  • the Cortex premotor in front of the precedent
  • the Cortex préfrontal which gathers all the other areas of the frontal lobe

Function

The frontal lobe intervenes primarily in the Planification, the Langage and the voluntary movement.
