From the Muddy Banks off the Wishkah is a compilation of extracts in concerts of Nirvana. Left in October 1996, the album present of the recorded pieces of 1989 at 1994.

General

From the Muddy Banks off the Wishkah is the second album of Nirvana left after death the leader Kurt Cobain. Before this one, the project of an album live mixed with extracts in the concert unplugged recorded in New York had been considered by the group. Finally, the project was abandoned and one decided to leave only the songs the concert in acoustics of New York, which gave the famous MTV Unplugged in New York. It was, indeed, émotionnellement speaking, for the remaining members of the group, difficult to hear the voice of their fire leader a few months after his death. It should finally have been waited October 1996 so that a live compilation is born; orchestrated by Krist Novoselic which wrote occasion consequently the notes of the small pocket of the album.

In addition to the homage paid to Kurt, Novoselic and Grohl were eager to leave such an album to remind some critical that on scene Nirvana did not miss a rage or of power. >> Smells Like Teen Spirit in concert with the house O' Brien <<

The title of the album comprises the name of the river Wishkah which borders several cities, and along which Krist and Kurt met. Wishkah also passes under a bridge made famous with the song Something in the Way, under which one affirmed, by pure mythology, that Cobain had lived for its period of wandering. However, the memory of Kurt Cobain remains related to this river since a third of its ashes was deposited there.

Anecdotes

Before playing Tourette' S, one can hear the " plaisanterie" made with the Reading Festival in England the August 30th 1992 when the group played the song for the first time in concert under the name of " The Eagle Has Landed"; and where Novoselic encouraged the bootleggers or pirates to record the song.
