Froissy

Froissy is a common French, located in the department of the Oise and the area Picardy.

Geography

The main resources of Froissy are agricultural: bovine breedings, cereal cultures. Froissy has an agricultural cooperative.

History

The commune was called Frissiacum in 1130.
The church was given in 1132 to the abbey of Saint-Lucien by Wilbert, lord of Froissy.
The seigniory was set up in marquisat in 1633.
The commune of Noirémont was joined together to him of 1826 to 1833.

There exists in Froissy a house street of Provinlieu which has a statuette of Saint-Sebastien in a niche which dates from the war of 1914/1918. At the time the cholera prevailed and the epidemic had stopped at this house. It is in thanks that this statue of Saint-Sebastien was set up.
