Frodon Sacquet

Frodon Sacquet ( Frodo Baggins in the english language version and Maura Labingi in Westron) is the main character of work the Lord of the Rings of J.R.R. Tolkien.

It is race of the Hobbits, born the September 22nd of year 2968 of the Third Age (T.A.), wire of Drogon Sacquet and Primula Brandebouc. It passed the major part of its life in the Comté.

Frodon loses his/her two parents, dead drowned, in 2980 T.A. minor Jeune twelve years, it was raised by the family of its mother, the Brandebouc. In years 2989, Frodon was put under the guard of his/her uncle Bilbon Sacquet (actually it is the son of the cousin resulting from Germain de Bilbon). Frodon then has twenty and one years, always a little far from its majority, which in the hobbits is at 33 years. The fact that Bilbon does not have a child made of Frodon his heir, and it takes it along food to Cul-de-Sac.

With the opening of the Lord of the Rings , Frodon and Bilbon, born the same day, their 33e and 111e birthday, on September 22nd T.A. 3001 celebrate respectively. Frodon inherits the ring of Bilbon then when this one leaves for Fondcombe just after the celebration. Gandalf the magician then informs Frodon which this ring should never be used and which it will have to hide it and to keep it secret.

Frodon successful to maintain the object hidden during seventeen years, until in the T.A. 3018, when Gandalf returns assure him that this one is well a ring of being able, most powerful in addition, the Single Anneau of Sauron, Master of darkness. Gandalf then sends Frodon far with its gardener Samsagace Gamegie. The cousins of Frodon, Peregrin Drum, known as Pippin and Meriadoc Brandebouc, known as Merry also take share with the voyage. Travel which will carry out them until the Elfe Elrond of Fondcombe. To the Council of Elrond, it is decided that the Ring must be destroyed by throwing it in the abyssals zone of Orodruin, the Mountain of the Destiny, where it was forged, in the middle of the Mordor, ground of Sauron. A community is formed in order to protect Frodon, guard of the Ring.

Frodon carries with him a small elfic sword, Dard, (actually a dagger, a short sword for a hobbit) and a coat of Mithril under its clothing made by the Nain S, both offered by Bilbon. Galadriel will give him, later, a coat of Elf and a flask containing the light of Eärendil to help it in its search.

Among all those of the community, Frodon was most affected by the disappearance of Gandalf in the Moria.

The community is divided with Parth Galen, after the death of the one of its members, Boromir, which tried, by defending Pippin and Merry, to repurchase itself after having wanted to monopolize the Ring

Frodon and Sam move towards the Mont of the Destiny. They are followed by Gollum, a former secular owner of the Ring which seeks to take it again. Frodon, thereafter, captures it and “tames” Gollum, by using it as a guide for Mordor. Frodon and Gollum formed a kind of bond, since both had the Ring.

Gollum betrays them nevertheless by leading them to Cirith Ungol, the den of Arachné. The giant spider was to eat them while Gollum recovered the Ring. Frodon, poisoned by the dart of Arachné, falls into a temporary coma, but is saved by the intervention of Sam. Some Orque S emerges then and takes along the body of Frodon. By a courageous intervention of Sam, Frodon could escape and thus continue its search.

The Mount of the Destiny reached, Frodon, exténué, yields to the capacity of the Ring and his proclaims it. Gollum chooses this moment to attack Frodon. He tearing off the finger, it manages to seize the Ring, but loses balance and dark in the lava, causing the destruction of this last. Whereas Mordor falls and that Orodruin enters in eruption, Frodon and Sam, blocked with the foot of the mountain, are saved by the Eagles: during the battle, Gandalf had required of Gwaihir, had accompanied by Landroval and Meneldor, to carry it in order to find them.

Of return in the County, Frodon takes part in the rebellion against the crowd of criminals who had prevailed during his absence, though clearly in withdrawal compared to Merry and Pippin. He becomes briefly mayor of the County, but resigns to make place with the former mayor Will Piedblanc, then in Sam. Two years after the Ring was destroyed, always worried by the physical and emotive wounds that it had received during the Guerre of the Ring (the wound which it accepted from the King-Wizard on Amon Sûl and that which was inflicted to him by Arachné was not to never leave it, plus a finger torn off by Gollum), Frodon, accompanied by Bilbon, is led to Tol Eressëa in company of Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel, on September 29th, T.A. 3021.

Frodon bequeathed its field Cul-de-sac and different books that Bilbon had left him, of which the Red book, which J.R.R. Tolkien claims to have translated to compose the Lord of the Rings, in Sam.

Frodon is also the name of the first wire of Samsagace Gamegie, which it thus names in the honor of its Master and friend.

In the radiophonic version of the '' Seigneur of the Rings '', its voice is interpreted by Ian Holm.
In the series of the three films '' the Lord of the Rings '' of Peter Jackson, it is incarnated by the actor Elijah Wood.
