Frocourt

Frocourt is a common French, located in the department of the Oise and the area Picardy.

The village of Frocourt is located at 6 kilometers in the south of Beauvais, it capital of Oise. At an altitude of 136 meters, the village extends on a surface from 644 hectares.

History

The village would have been founded on the site of a Roman villa. The first mentions of the village is at XIe, it was called " Fercourt".

On 1794 to 1800, chief town of canton, Frocourt depended on the deanery of Mouchy. Simon Dauvet was lord of the place. He is regarded as the first of this family and was chamberlain of the king Charles V. He was known as that the Jacquerie in XIVe century started in Frocourt.

François Ier built there a castle for one of his mistresses, says one; he was destroyed with the Revolution and rebuilds after 1800.

Church of XIIe, XVe and XVIe century, built in form of T with a blazing chorus.

A castle was built about 1850 then demolished, at the place of the current allotment of Fontenelle; there remained still vestiges of the vault of the castle in the Nineties '.

The village also comprises an old presbytery in very bad condition.
